I love helping people fulfill their travel dreams. And there's no better way to travel than for free.
Sometimes people are turned off my annual credit card fees. And I totally get that. Unless you're spending a significant amount on your cards, the fees could outweigh the benefits.
One of the best ways to get into the credit card rewards points game is through a no annual fee card like the Chase Freedom Card.
I actually held off on getting this card for years, but I'm glad I did because it just helped me buy a ticket to NYC to see friends and a great show!
Discipline!
I always start with this. You MUST be committed to paying your card in full and on time EVERY MONTH for this whole credit card points game to work out in your favor. If you're committed to that, read on. If not, close the page and run. You'll lose the game.
Now, if you're disciplined and committed, read on.
15,000 bonus points (or $150) Signing Bonus
When you spend $500 on the Freedom Card in the first three months, you'll get 10,000 bonus points. That's worth $100 that you can use for travel or as a statement credit.
5% Rewards
You'll get 1% rewards for every dollar you spend with the Freedom Card. But quarterly, there are 5% bonus categories. This is where you'll really win with this card. And it's where the title of this article comes from.
You're able to earn $75 in rewards in these categories each quarter. So, when the categories for the quarter included cell phone bills, I made it to the max and got my $75 in 5% back rewards. With the low cost of round trip flights between Orlando and NYC, that's a 1 way ticket!
No Annual Fee
One of the great things about the Chase Freedom Card is that it has no annual fee. So, if you pay it off every month, you definitely come out ahead. It's all upside!
This also makes it a great card to add to other cards in your wallet. Even with the 3% on dining with my Chase Sapphire Reserve Card, it's better to use the Freedom Card when the 5% category is dining. So, I have the card to use on the 5% categories each quarter.
Referral Rewards
When you share the Freedom Card with a friend who also signs up, you'll get 10,000 bonus points. That's $100 in credit!
If you want to check out some other cards first. Take a look at the Chase Sapphire Preferred and the Chase Sapphire Reserve.
